Message I’d like to get some feedback about my “fork in the road” situation.

A while back I bought a 91 TT in Guam. My thoughts had always been to restore the car. It had some engine problems and the body was rusting out bad. I met a guy (who became a good friend) and he did a lot of engine work for me. He would let me come over and help him and would explain to me what we were doing at the same time.

I came back stateside and I brought the car back with me with the hopes of being able to find a rust free shell. I found one and bought it. I realized that just because I was able to turn a wrench when my friend told me to, that it didn’t give me the skills needed to perform this huge task.

Now, about 24 months after buying the shell, I’m worried that I may have to move again and I’m wondering how I am going move two cars. Oh and the shell doesn’t have a rear sub-frame. I have it sitting on a vehicle dolly lol.

Without having the money to have the work done all in one shot, I figure I have two options. First one is to try to sell them both and cut my losses. I really don’t want to but I have to be honest with myself about my lack of mechanical skills. I think a second option could be to rent a couple of storage units and keep them there. (I don’t have any options of leaving them with anyone.) I have plans on going to a mechanical school after I retire in a few years. I would hope that I could come back to this and finish this restoration at that time.

Are there other options that I’m not seeing?

Thanks,
Juan
